Trees are the most essential element of nature. They give us oxygen, food, wood, shelter, medicine, and many more components to lead a healthy life. Trees also play the most important part in maintaining ecological balance. Moreover, trees help in regulating rainfall and maintain the temperature. Also, they maintain the ratio of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the air. Furthermore, trees increase the strength of the soil as well as make the soil more fertile, perfect for agriculture. They also give us fuel and timber.  The world is already under a big threat of major climate change due to global warming. The greenhouse effect and environmental pollution is the main reason behind the immense climate change. Due to global warming, the temperature of the earth is increasing at a rapid pace. Also, there is irregular rainfall. Therefore, sudden typhoons, drought, soil erosion, and various natural hazards are taking place. Deforestation is the main reason which is leading us to a serious natural disasters. Bangladesh is under the major threat of climate change. Moreover, due to global warming, the sea level is increasing as well. As Bangladesh is a lower riparian country and due to the rise in sea level, the country will be underwater in the future. Apart from facing the challenges of rising sea levels, Bangladesh is also the center of frequent natural calamities. However, trees also give us the most essential raw material for industrial work. As the world is becoming more industrialized and the population is also increasing alarmingly. People are cutting down trees for various purposes but they are not eager to plant trees. Only balanced tree plantations can save us from various disasters. The rainy season is the perfect season for tree plantation. We can use the side of roads and highways, riversides, sides of dams, and canals for tree plantation. The government should take every possible measure to reduce deforestation. Hence, various types of programs can be organized to encourage people to plant more trees. Public awareness of the importance of tree plantation. Additionally, we can encourage people to plant trees in their backyards, on their rooftops, on the school fields, and in other empty places. Besides cutting one tree we can encourage people to plant two more trees. Many students, political personnel, different social and cultural or social organizations, and other concerned citizens can come forward and organize various different tree plantation programs to spread more awareness among the citizens about the benefits of tree plantation. Therefore, we need to increase awareness and encourage people to plant more trees. A country needs to have at least 25 percent of forest land of its total land. The importance of tree plantation is enormous so that our future generation can live healthy lives.

Deforestation

Nowadays deforestation has increased at an alarming rate. Apart from giving oxygen, trees give us shelter, food, timber, fuel, and many other things. Moreover, trees maintain the balance of the ratio of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the air and keep the air clean and fresh. Trees save us from the scorching heat as well by giving us shadows.  Also, trees save us from various natural calamities such as typhoons, drought, floods, river erosion, and so on. Additionally, trees play a significant role in maintaining rainfall, especially in tropical regions. Moreover, because of the greenhouse effect, the temperature of the earth is increasing and causing global warming. Many changes are already happening due to global warming. The icebergs in the north and south pole are melting resulting in a rise in the sea level. Countries in the lower region will soon go underwater. Unfortunately, Bangladesh is one of the countries going through the worst changes because of climate change. Additionally, trees play a significant role in maintaining rainfall, especially in tropical regions. All these problems can be reduced to a certain point if deforestation can be controlled.  The main reason for deforestation is population growth. The population is growing at a breathtaking pace. In order to give shelter to these increasing populations, people are cutting down trees. As trees provide timber, fuel, and various other raw materials people cut down trees indiscriminately to gather these materials. However, deforestation has various kinds of impacts on nature. Deforestation reduces the fertility and strength of the soil. It has an adverse effect on the agricultural sector. As the strength of the soil decreases on account of deforestation, it is giving rise to river erosion. In addition, deforestation diminishes soil quality. Many people are losing their homes every year. Deforestation diminishes the soil quality by destroying the upper layer. The root of the trees contains the most amounts of nutrients which mainly fertilizes the overall land. Cutting down trees results in a lack of nutrients making the land more unfertile for agriculture. Also, deforestation triggers the causes of air pollution. As the world is becoming more industrialized the level of air pollution has been uplifted. With the increasing population, the use of vehicles has also increased. Therefore the emission of carbon monoxide has also increased rapidly. Trees play a significant role as natural filters. Although with increased deforestation the number of trees is decreasing, escalating air pollution. Not only is mankind disturbed due to deforestation but also the worst sufferer is wildlife. As a result of deforestation, many animals and rare trees are being extinct. Deforestation escalates a major ecological imbalance.  Therefore, many governmental and non-governmental organizations should work alongside to reduce deforestation. Also, public awareness about the disadvantages of deforestation should be emphasized more through mass media.

Travelling 

People travel for various reasons and in different ways. They visit places that are beautiful and natural, and discover things that are new and unknown. Travelling is the best way to see and learn from the world, because it gives us direct and concrete knowledge. Unlike books or stories, which only give us abstract or vague ideas, travelling shows us the reality. Some people travel to gain wisdom and experience, some travel for fun, some travel for work and so on. There are many modes of travelling, such as by plane, bus, boat, train etc. Travelling has a lot of educational value. It is an essential part of learning. We cannot complete our education or book knowledge without travelling. Travelling teaches us many subjects, such as economics, language, sociology, culture, history, geography and more. Therefore, travelling has an immense educational value that cannot be described in words. Moreover, travelling has some special benefits. It breaks our routine and makes us happy. It also widens our perspective and refreshes our mind. A good traveler can easily educate others.

মানুষ বিভিন্ন কারণে এবং বিভিন্ন উপায়ে ভ্রমণ করে। তারা সুন্দর এবং প্রাকৃতিক স্থানগুলি পরিদর্শন করে এবং নতুন এবং অজানা জিনিসগুলি আবিষ্কার করে। ভ্রমণ হল বিশ্বকে দেখার এবং শেখার সর্বোত্তম উপায়, কারণ এটি আমাদের প্রত্যক্ষ এবং সুনির্দিষ্ট জ্ঞান দেয়। বই বা গল্পের বিপরীতে, যা আমাদের শুধুমাত্র বিমূর্ত বা অস্পষ্ট ধারণা দেয়, ভ্রমণ আমাদের বাস্তবতা দেখায়। কিছু লোক প্রজ্ঞা এবং অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জনের জন্য ভ্রমণ করে, কেউ মজা করার জন্য ভ্রমণ করে, কেউ কাজের জন্য ভ্রমণ করে ইত্যাদি। ভ্রমণের অনেক পদ্ধতি আছে, যেমন বিমান, বাস, নৌকা, ট্রেন ইত্যাদি। ভ্রমণের অনেক শিক্ষাগত মূল্য রয়েছে। এটা শেখার একটি অপরিহার্য অংশ. ভ্রমণ ছাড়া আমরা আমাদের শিক্ষা বা বইয়ের জ্ঞান সম্পূর্ণ করতে পারি না। ভ্রমণ আমাদের অনেক বিষয় শেখায়, যেমন অর্থনীতি, ভাষা, সমাজবিজ্ঞান, সংস্কৃতি, ইতিহাস, ভূগোল এবং আরও অনেক কিছু। অতএব, ভ্রমণের একটি বিশাল শিক্ষাগত মূল্য রয়েছে যা ভাষায় বর্ণনা করা যায় না। তাছাড়া ভ্রমণের কিছু বিশেষ সুবিধা রয়েছে। এটা আমাদের রুটিন ভেঙ্গে দেয় এবং আমাদের খুশি করে। এটি আমাদের দৃষ্টিকোণকে প্রশস্ত করে এবং আমাদের মনকে সতেজ করে। একজন ভালো ভ্রমণকারী সহজেই অন্যকে শিক্ষিত করতে পারে।

Environment Pollution

The natural conditions and resources that support the life of humans, animals and plants are being contaminated by various factors. Different kinds of environmental pollution exist, such as air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution and arsenic pollution. Harmful smoke from industries and vehicles pollutes the air with toxic gases that cause diseases when people breathe them. Human and industrial waste contaminates water sources easily. Chemicals and pesticides used by farmers also get washed into water bodies by floods and rain. Drinking this polluted water makes people sick. Noise pollution occurs when the sound level exceeds 70 decibels. Many vehicles use loud horns that create unbearable noise. Arsenic pollution is another serious problem that is increasing rapidly. If we do not take action to stop these pollutions, our life on earth will become miserable. We should educate everyone about the negative effects of these pollutions. Moreover, we should punish those who are responsible for polluting the environment.

প্রাকৃতিক পরিস্থিতি এবং সম্পদ যা মানুষ, প্রাণী এবং উদ্ভিদের জীবনকে সমর্থন করে তা বিভিন্ন কারণের দ্বারা দূষিত হচ্ছে। বিভিন্ন ধরণের পরিবেশ দূষণ বিদ্যমান, যেমন বায়ু দূষণ, জল দূষণ, শব্দ দূষণ এবং আর্সেনিক দূষণ। শিল্প ও যানবাহনের ক্ষতিকারক ধোঁয়া বিষাক্ত গ্যাস দিয়ে বায়ুকে দূষিত করে যা মানুষ শ্বাস নেওয়ার সময় রোগের কারণ হয়। মানব ও শিল্প বর্জ্য সহজেই পানির উৎসকে দূষিত করে। কৃষকদের ব্যবহৃত রাসায়নিক ও কীটনাশকও বন্যা ও বৃষ্টিতে জলাশয়ে ভেসে যায়। এই দূষিত পানি পান করলে মানুষ অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ে। শব্দের মাত্রা 70 ডেসিবেল অতিক্রম করলে শব্দ দূষণ ঘটে। অনেক যানবাহন উচ্চ শব্দে হর্ন ব্যবহার করে যা অসহনীয় শব্দ সৃষ্টি করে। আর্সেনিক দূষণ আরেকটি গুরুতর সমস্যা যা দ্রুত বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। এসব দূষণ বন্ধে ব্যবস্থা না নিলে পৃথিবীতে আমাদের জীবন দুর্বিষহ হয়ে পড়বে। এই দূষণের নেতিবাচক প্রভাব সম্পর্কে আমাদের সবাইকে শিক্ষিত করা উচিত। তাছাড়া পরিবেশ দূষণের জন্য যারা দায়ী তাদের শাস্তি দেওয়া উচিত।

Drug Addiction

The modern age is plagued by drug addiction, which often leads to the addicts’ premature and miserable death. Drug addiction is the practice of using illegal substances for pleasure. Some of the common drugs abused in our country are opium, hemp, heroine, morphine, yaba, phensidyl etc. Drug addiction is the tendency to consume excessive amounts of drugs without any medical need but to escape from reality. There are many factors that contribute to drug addiction. Some of them are unemployment, political instability, weak family bonds and lack of love and care. Drugs induce a state of illusion and the drug users forget everything for a while and live in a fantasy world. Drug addiction has many negative consequences not only for the users but also for the society and nation at large. Drugs have a harmful effect on the human body. The users feel sleepy and their nervous system deteriorates gradually causing brain damage which leads to death. When the users cannot afford to buy drugs, they resort to various kinds of criminal activities and become a burden on others. The addicts need to be treated by both the government and non-government organizations as well as their parents and helped to lead a happy and peaceful life in society.

মাদকাসক্তি

আধুনিক যুগ মাদকাসক্তিতে জর্জরিত, যা প্রায়শই আসক্তদের অকাল ও দুঃখজনক মৃত্যুর দিকে নিয়ে যায়। মাদকাসক্তি হল আনন্দের জন্য অবৈধ পদার্থ ব্যবহার করার অভ্যাস। আমাদের দেশে অপব্যবহার করা কিছু সাধারণ মাদকদ্রব্য হল আফিম, ভাঙ্গা, হিরোইন, মরফিন, ইয়াবা, ফেনসিডিল ইত্যাদি। মাদকাসক্তি হল বাস্তবতা থেকে বাঁচার জন্য কোনো চিকিৎসা প্রয়োজন ছাড়াই অতিরিক্ত মাত্রায় মাদক সেবন করার প্রবণতা। মাদকাসক্তিতে অবদান রাখে এমন অনেক কারণ রয়েছে। তাদের মধ্যে কিছু বেকারত্ব, রাজনৈতিক অস্থিতিশীলতা, দুর্বল পারিবারিক বন্ধন এবং ভালবাসা ও যত্নের অভাব। মাদকদ্রব্য একটি বিভ্রম সৃষ্টি করে এবং মাদক সেবনকারীরা কিছু সময়ের জন্য সবকিছু ভুলে কল্পনার জগতে বাস করে। মাদকাসক্তি শুধু ব্যবহারকারীদের জন্যই নয়, সমাজ ও জাতির জন্যও অনেক নেতিবাচক পরিণতি ডেকে আনে। মাদক মানবদেহে ক্ষতিকর প্রভাব ফেলে। ব্যবহারকারীরা ঘুমন্ত বোধ করেন এবং তাদের স্নায়ুতন্ত্র ধীরে ধীরে খারাপ হয়ে যায় যার ফলে মস্তিষ্কের ক্ষতি হয় যা মৃত্যুর দিকে পরিচালিত করে। ব্যবহারকারীরা যখন মাদক কেনার সামর্থ্য রাখে না, তখন তারা বিভিন্ন ধরনের অপরাধমূলক কর্মকাণ্ডের আশ্রয় নেয় এবং অন্যের বোঝা হয়ে দাঁড়ায়। মাদকাসক্তদের সরকারী ও বেসরকারী উভয় সংস্থার পাশাপাশি তাদের পিতামাতার দ্বারা চিকিত্সা করা এবং সমাজে সুখী ও শান্তিপূর্ণ জীবনযাপনে সহায়তা করা দরকার।

My Best Friend

It is hard to find good friends in these days of rapid change. The old norms have disappeared and the new ones have not emerged yet. I am fortunate to have many friends. But one of them is very special to me and we have a deep bond. My best friend’s name is Rana. He lives in the same neighborhood as me and we go to the same school. We are in the same class. We have been friends since we were in kindergarten. He is like a brother to me. He is very kind, honest, and helpful. He always supports me in my studies and other activities.  He is one of the top students in our class. He grasps things easily. He is a smart and active learner. He is very timely. He is obedient and respectful. He speaks softly. He does well in his studies. He reads some extra books and does not limit himself to his textbooks. He is interested in current affairs and often has discussions with me about important issues of the day. He respects his elders and loves his family. He is very proud of his country, Bangladesh, and its rich heritage and diversity. He often tells me stories about the history, geography, culture, and people of Bangladesh. He wants to travel around the country and see its natural beauty and historical places. He also wants to contribute to the development and progress of Bangladesh. He is tolerant, open-minded, and cooperative. He also likes to watch movies in a theater. Sometimes he persuades me to join him even though I have already seen that movie. Actually, no one is perfect without any flaws. I let him enjoy such freedoms and he does not go beyond the limit. He is a very good cricket player. He is a well-behaved boy. I am really proud of him.

A Winter Morning

A winter morning is a morning of the winter season that is usually cold and foggy. There is dense fog everywhere that makes everything look hazy. The fog makes it hard to see things clearly and creates a mysterious atmosphere. The grasses and leaves are wet with dew drops that sparkle like pearls when the sun rises. One can hardly see and identify things at a distance. The animals lose their spirits. They look sullen and distressed. People wear warm clothes to protect themselves from the cold. The old people and children shiver in cold. They gather straw and make fires at different places to warm themselves in the heat. By and large, people do not feel like leaving bed early. They get up late when the sun, peeps through the pall of mist. The touch of the sun's rays makes the birds and beasts happy. Farmers start going to the fields to begin their day's work. With the advancing sun, mist and fog disappear and the people shirk off the feeling of-cold to set about their daily duties. But a winter morning becomes enjoyable when we are entertained with various items of delicious food such as various cakes, pies .prepared with date juice, and various delicious curries prepared with fish. Those who are government and non-government employees have to get up early in the morning. They ignore all the sufferings of the bitter cold, take preparation and start for their respective workplaces. On a winter morning, people go through different experiences according to their economic background. Those who are poor cannot afford warm clothes and so suffer from the bitter cold. But rich people enjoy sleeping or staying under a warm blanket. So, to the poor, the sun-ray becomes more precious than gold. A winter morning has a special beauty and charm that many people love.
